Circulating

Books can be located using our Online Catalog / Discovery System. Our catalog is shared with 28 other Universities through the Appalachian College Association.

Using the search box on the landing page, you can search by keyword.  To search by keyword, subject, title, and author, click on “Advanced Search” at the top left of the page.

Once you have located a print title that you would like to borrow, send the following information to nenders@old-kcu.wr.ardent.dev :

  1. Your first and last name
  2. Your contact information, including your email address and a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Your ID number
  4. The title of your book
  5. The Author of your book
  6. The Call number of your book
  7. The ISBN number of your book if it is available. This can be located at the bottom of the screen of the book you have selected.

Books are loaned to distance learners for 4 weeks. Books can be renewed by sending an email to nenders@old-kcu.wr.ardent.dev or calling 606.474.3240.

E-books

Catalog

Electronic books located in the catalog are accessible in Full Text / Searchable format. To search for only electronic e-books in our catalog you will need to set that limit in the left column of your screen.

  1. Conduct your search
  2. In the column on the left, scroll down to the heading ‘Material Type’
  3. Click on the box in front of “e-book”
  4. This will leave you only with electronic book titles.

Many of our electronic books can be checked out and downloaded for up to 7 days. PDF formats can be downloaded to tablets and readers, including the Kindle.

Reference Books

Electronic reference books can be located using the online catalog. Many of these titles are also listed in two Reference book databases. This gives you two points of access for these electronic Reference books. These reference book databases focus on traditional reference resources. We encourage you to search the catalog for electronic books for resources on your topic area.

Oxford Reference online is a good resource for basic tertiary resources such as dictionaries and encyclopedias.

Gale Virtual Reference Library contains reference materials that are searchable by subject area and book title. Several of our print titles are duplicated in Gale.

You can also locate these databases on our Databases page.  Look for them under the General Studies heading.

Free E-books

Many web sites that provide free ebooks are becoming available. We list a few of these on our E-books page and update it regularly. Click on the link to find our current listing. E-books

PREPARED TO GO MAKE DISCIPLES

“Thank you Dr. Brickey for pouring so much time, love, and effort into my education to make sure that I became a nurse that is prepared to go make disciples for Christ. I will forever be grateful to you and the Yancey School of Nursing.”
