POSITION DESCRIPTION

 Summary:

Kentucky Christian University invites applications for a full-time, open-rank faculty position in Healthcare Administration within the School of Business and Leadership, beginning in Fall of 2024. The successful candidate will instruct students in our BBA program and assist in the development of a Healthcare Administration concentration.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds through teaching and experiential learning opportunities.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled.

Essential Characteristics:

First and foremost, the ideal candidate is a Christian of mature faith with the capacity to articulate his/her relationship with Jesus Christ clearly.  The ideal candidate is committed to advancing the mission of KCU, can integrate faith and learning into their teaching and assignments, and can provide instruction beyond the classroom that helps students develop a healthy character.  The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who inspires excellence in others by his/her own work ethic.

Essential Job Duties:

Responsibilities include teaching in-person and online undergraduate courses and establishing a strong service record for the university.  The ideal candidate must take ownership of their area of responsibility and provide leadership throughout the University community.  S/he should also actively recruit and retain School of Business and Leadership students, which involves personal involvement and investment in student success, career advisement, and faith discernment.  Additional duties may be required or assigned.

All KCU employees must maintain and comply with all policies, rules, and regulations included in the KCU Staff and Faculty Handbooks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education — A master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, nonprofit organizations, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.  A doctoral degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, nonprofit organizations, or a related field from an accredited institution is preferred.  While content areas are open, expertise in health services or healthcare administration, education, finance, law, leadership, policy, management, operations, organizational behavior, and/or quality improvement is preferred.

Experience — Candidates with healthcare industry experience are preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES  

The individual holding this position must possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, percentages, and ratios.
  • Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, memos, budget reports, audit reports, state licensing forms, evaluation forms and assessments, general business journals, professional journals, technical procedures, and various governmental information reporting forms and papers.
  • Ability to clearly write, in English, complex correspondence, memos, and reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small or large group situations, both personally and over the telephone.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to define problems, evaluate, and make independent decisions based on experience or knowledge with supervision.
  • Ability to use computer technology, particularly as related to distance education technologies, at an advanced level.
  • Ability to listen and hear faculty, staff, and administrators speak about distance learning activities.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand and continuously perform essential job functions for a nine (9) hour day, with an hour lunch break.
  • Ability to grasp and lift or otherwise move goods weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately with minimal direct supervision within three (3) months after the employee begins work.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in at least one hand to be able to operate all electronic and computer equipment (keyboards, calculators, printers, etc.), and manually complete paperwork such as signing completed reports.
