Northside Church of Christ in Bloomington, IL, is seeking a fulltime senior minister. Position Description
All candidates must have at least two years schooling towards a theological degree, or matching studies under an ordained minister in either a Church of Christ or Christian church (With a letter from that minister stating the candidate is trained and able to perform the work of a Youth Minster).

The primary duties will be
- Calling on the youth and counseling them
- Organize and maintain the youth ministry during the week for proper structure and preparation.
- Design and/or oversee all youth group activities on Wednesday nights making sure there are spiritual activities associated with them.
- Coordinate, conduct, or oversee 1st hour bible school, 2nd hour junior worship and 3–5-year-old child care on Sunday mornings.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead workers for the yearly VBS program during the summer months.
It is expected that the youth minister will pledge his membership within the congregation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Direct, oversee, and co-shepherd the family community of First Christian Church.
- Collaborate with the lead minister to effectively incorporate family ministry into the annual sermon schedule.

- Ministry related degree from an accredited 4-year school.
- 3+ years ministry of children’s ministry experience in a church or parachurch context.
- Heart for families and the next generation of Christianity.
- Proven ability to develop children’s ministry workers and leaders.
- Experience communicating the Gospel and God’s Word in an accessible way.
- Ability to organize children’s ministry outings and trips.
- Ability to connect with, disciple, and empower parents to raise godly children.
- Ability to respond to written and electronic communication in a timely, professional manner.
- Sold-out commitment to Jesus and the call to do whatever it takes to see people know his love.
- Humility and a sense of humor.
- Hunger to grow as a leader and further develop skills to their fullest potential.
- Someone who is well organized but can be flexible in a team setting, while still being able to meet deadlines.
- Someone who is looking to not only function in a healthy team but build a healthy team of their own to support the church as a whole, not just their own ministry.

The Director of Youth Ministry, a part-time position, will be responsible for shepherding the children and youth of First Christian Church on their journey to becoming followers of Jesus Christ. This will include:
- Planning, developing and resourcing youth programming for children and youth.
- Teaching or facilitating First Kids, a children’s Sunday morning ministry for K-5th grade, from 9:30 am – 10:30 am and again fro 11:00 am – noon.
- Facilitating or teaching a youth Sunday School class for grades 6-12.
- Preparing and delivering the Children’s Moment (a brief lesson geared to children in preschool through 5th grade) during the Sunday morning worship service.
- Planning, developing and resourcing programming for youth groups (grades 6-12) and youth sponsors. Youth groups meet on Sunday afternoons/early evenings (time negotiable).
- Coordinating and assisting volunteers with St. Andrew’s Kids, an after-school arts-based children’s program for K-5th grade (2nd and 4th Wednesdays during school year from 4:30 – 6:00 pm).
- Developing and maintaining an active volunteer base. When volunteers are not available, assume primary leadership for programming.
Qualifications would include:
- Have a committed spiritual life, grounded in Scripture and the traditions of the church.
- Have experience working with children, youth and families.
- Possess the ability to create, lead and grow well-rounded, biblically grounded programs for children and youth.
- Be able to work and relate to all people on the theological spectrum and have a strong desire to work with the laity of the congregation.
- Have excellent organizational and developmental skills, have a caring nature, and be able to listen to and communicate successfully with a broad range of people, but particularly with children and young people.
- Post-secondary education is desired, but not necessarily a requirement.
- Hold a valid Driver’s License and be able to drive a van.
- Be well organized and proficient with electronic communication and social media.
- Have a genuine love for children and be enthusiastic about working with the youth.
Involves an average of 20 hours per week.
